Nelly Poem

I promised awhile ago that I would post my persona poem about Nelly. Just found it in my computer, so here it is. Sorry for the wait!!!

<br/>

I grew in St. Louis, the bad part o’ town.
Kicked out of too many schools to count.
Parents couldn’t afford me and my kids,
I dealt drugs to pay bills all ‘round.

Turn ‘round the ‘tude and face the facts
I need structure in my life, that’s the tact.
Play baseball, join a band;
heads start turnin’ to stare.
They’ve singled me out!

The St. Lunatics push me to go on,
my heart pounds precisely with the beat,
as I enter the shiny, steel studio.
Country Grammar has begun.

My eyes open up to the troubles I’ve seen,
need to help others through what I’ve been.
4Sho4Kids has risen,
helping all through St. Louis.

I won’t stop now, can’t hold back.
Rap is my deal, that’s a fact.
If you want more to see,
look in the book about me,
Nelly.

To help write this poem, I used Hooper, James. Nelly. Mason Crest Inc. 2007.

Thank you!
